ĐÀ NẴNG — Thousands of runners have registered for the AirAsia Redrun Đà Nẵng-Champion21 on April 26, an event that is kicking off a series of Trans-Asia sports and tourism programmes in Việt Nam’s most liveable city.

Organisers of the half-marathon said athletes will compete in the men’s and women’s 21km, 10km and 5km races starting from Biển Đông (East Sea) Park along the beachside route of Võ Nguyên Giáp Street.

They said the event is not only a sporting competition but also a celebration of World Intellectual Property Organisation Day, aimed at raising awareness of the role of intellectual property in sports, innovation and promoting Việt Nam’s image globally.

Athletes will take part in the opening ceremony on April 25, while race kit collection and registration check-in will be held at the event pavilion at East Sea Park.

Đà Nẵng’s beachfront running route has become a regular venue for major endurance events, including the International Marathon and Ironman Việt Nam, which has been held in the city since 2015.

The Đà Nẵng International Marathon meets the qualification standards set by the International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics) and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). — VNS
