HÀ NỘI — The establishment of the Hà Nội Volleyball Championship on August 15 marks a historic milestone for the city's volleyball movement and serves the need of the national squads.
The federation's first congress for the 2025-2030 term was also held on the same day, to appoint the most suitable people to take charge of important duties.
Hà Nội is home to eight professional volleyball teams (four men's teams and four women's), which have made remarkable progress as amateur volleyball tournaments are organised in every corner of the city. This is considered a solid foundation for the development of the sport.
Among their achievements are a bronze medal at the national championship in 2022, a promotion slot for the women's side to the nation's highest volleyball league in 2024 and a silver at the national youth volleyball championship 2025. Every year, many players from Hà Nội are called to the national team.
However, major challenges still remain, including poor quality facilities, a lack of proper training systems and a shortage of financial resources.
The Hà Nội Volleyball Federation has been established with the mission of helping the sport develop, solve problems and bring volleyball to new heights.
The congress elected a 15-member Executive Committee and chose Trần Thùy Chi, chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Vietcontent Trading Joint Stock Company, to be president.
She is assisted by vice presidents Nguyễn Việt Hòa, director of the Centre for Physical Education and Sports at Hà Nội National University, and Bùi Đình Lợi, head of the Hà Nội Volleyball Department. Lợi is also the federation's general secretary.

The federation will focus on developing the city's teams to gain high results in national tournaments, promote the school volleyball movement and improve the quality of athlete training from the grassroots level.
In addition, the federation will socialise financial resources, seek sponsorships and expand communications to attract public attention, as well as create highly attractive commercial tournaments.
“With the honour and responsibility of the president, the Executive Committee and I pledge to unite, innovate and promote collective intelligence of the whole federation to fulfil important tasks, boosting Hà Nội's volleyball to a new level,” said Chi in her concluding speech. VNS
