Science Fair 2026 opens in HCM City

HCM CITY — Science Fair 2026, an annual festival celebrating science and culture, brings together science, technology, education, and the arts, opening from October 9-11 in HCM City.

With the theme of “A Conversation with the Future: AI – Society – Responsibility”, the festival is organised by the Goethe-Institut HCM City, under the patronage of the German Consulate General in HCM City, in collaboration with artLIVE and The Too Blue Scientist.

The event features a wide variety of activities from science experiments, workshops, and panel talks to science films, art performances, and interactive experiences.

Science Fair 2026 attracts experts, educators, entrepreneurs, artists, and practitioners from various fields to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the artificial intelligence (AI) ​​era.

Topics include AI in education, AI and future generations, AI in business, AI safety, digital divides, AI and creative practice, and the relationship between AI, the environment, and the arts.

One of the highlights is the Science Film Festival, where children and adults can learn more about AI, the environment, science, technology, and the future through animated films and documentaries.

Children, educators, and the community are encouraged to try hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and games on science, ecology, climate action, biodiversity, emerging technologies, scientific discovery, and community-driven innovation.

They can participate in a series of workshops, such as paper-circuit pop-up cards, homemade spectroscopes, and carbon storytelling, and workshops that combine AI with poetry and artistic creation.

The Science Fair 2026 also features a popping dance “Electric Sheep” by Mar Studio, a poem reading “Morphed into a machine” by Châu Hoàng, a live coding performance “The Living Code Prelude” by artists from Thailand and Viet Nam, and other performances exploring the evolving relationship between humans, machines, and AI.

The Faculty of Interdisciplinary Sciences of the HCM City University of Science contributes science booths, AR/VR experiences, and science film screenings that promote interdisciplinary learning, STEM education, and sustainable development.

The event demonstrates the application of AI in sensory evaluation combined with artisanal techniques in German bread-making.

The festival set up a book space showcasing publications on science, AI, and human life from the HCM City General Sciences Library and the Trẻ (Youth) Publishing House, and an art space displaying installation works reflecting the relationship between humans, memory, perception, and technology.

The Science Fair 2026 is taking place at 257 Hoàng Văn Thụ Street in Tân Sơn Hòa Ward.
