HCM CITY — With rackets raised and national pride on the line, nearly 100 of Việt Nam’s top tennis players have descended on HCM City for the 2025 VTF Pro Tour 200 – AP Sports Club Cup, which officially opened on August 14.

Hosted by the Việt Nam Tennis Federation (VTF), the tournament marks the first national professional event of the year and promises fierce competition across five categories: men’s and women’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

Players from nine strongholds – including Becamex Bình Dương, Hà Nội, the Military, Đồng Nai, Quang Hạnh Club and the hosts AP Sports Club – are all vying for top honours until August 20.

Among the favourites are seasoned national stars such as Vũ Hà Minh Đức (AP Sports Club) and Lê Trung Tính (Military), alongside a new wave of promising talent, including Từ Lê Khánh Duy (Xuân Phúc – Ninh Bình Club), Nguyễn Đại Khánh (Becamex Bình Dương), Ngô Hồng Hạnh (Military) and Nguyễn Thị Mai Linh (Hà Nội).

"This is the first national professional tournament for elite players in 2025. It is not only an opportunity for players to affirm their skills and performance, but also plays an important role in developing tennis, training the next generation, aiming to raise the level of Vietnamese tennis in the international arena," said General Secretary of the Việt Nam Tennis Federation Nguyễn Hồng Sơn.

According to Sơn, results from the tournament will also serve as a critical reference point in the selection of national representatives for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand this December.

AP Sports Club representative Mai Hoài Anh added: “Towards join hands to push the sustainable development of Vietnamese sports, AP Sports Club focuses on modern facilities and a professional training environment, creating optimal conditions for athletes to maximise their potential.”
