More than 300 athletes surging across winding rice terraces high in the mountains of Northwest region d a striking and unprecedented spectacle in the national running events on May 1 in Lào Cai Province.
Widely regarded as one of the most picturesque landscapes in Phú Thọ and the wider northwestern region, the terraced fields cascade across gently sloping hillsides.
Terraced fields in the northern province of Lao Cai
look like beautiful paintings as they glisten under the sunshine,
attracting many tourists, especially photographers.
Buckwheat flowers in the northern mountainous provinces have begun to
bloom along terraced fields, roads and in villages. The small,
light-pink flowers turn to a light purple colour several days after
blooming, resembling a vast pink painting.
A culture, sports and tourism week will be held in the northern
mountainous province of Yen Bai from September 26-29, honouring the
scenic Mu Cang Chai terraced fields.
