Calligraphy is no longer only a man''s occupation in Viet Nam, but the
image of a woman sitting and donating words to passersby is somehow
still unusual to many people.
Australians can enjoy the quintessence of Vietnamese culture and
heritage at an exhibition that opened yesterday in Perth on the occasion
of the Western Australian Heritage Festival.
Together with Viet Nam Day held in Tokyo, Vietnamese and Japanese
cultures were on show at the HCM City Friendship Palace on Sunday to
commemorate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two
countries.
Japanese renowned calligrapher Takeda Souun will demonstrate his techniques and hold a workshop titled The Power of Calligraphy, at the Temple of Literature in Ha Noi this Saturday.
The annual gathering of Calligraphy artists and
Confucian scholars on the street adjoining the Temple of Literature is
underway as the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival season enters its final
stretch.
More than 100 ong do (Confucian teacher) from
across the country will gather in the coastal city of Vung Tau this
weekend for the second Confucian Teachers Union.
As many as 45 calligraphy works by 24 leading South
Korean artists celebrating the prison diary of late President Ho Chi
Minh are on display at the Ho Chi Minh Museum in downtown Ha Noi.
