HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Trân won a silver medal for Việt Nam at the Asian Boxing U19 and U22 Championships 2025, which ended on August 12 in Thailand.
Trân took part in the women's U22 51kg category. She defeated three opponents to enter the final against Gulsevar Ganieva of Uzbekistan.
Despite her strong effort, Trân failed outperform the powerful boxer, losing 0-5 and finishing second at the Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok.
Việt Nam also bagged six bronze medals in other classes, including the women's U19 48kg, won by Lục Thảo Thanh, the women's U19 57kg, won by Vũ Thị Thơm and the women's U19 75kg by Trần Thanh Tuyền.
A total of 396 boxers, comprising 159 women and 237 men, competed across two age groups (U19 and U22), with weight classes ranging from 47kg to over 80kg.
This championship not only served as a launchpad for Asia’s top young talent, but also played a vital role in Olympic qualification pathways and long-term athlete development. — VNS
