HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese singer Dương Domic has been nominated for the 2026 Music Awards Japan (MAJ) with his track Mất Kết Nối (Disconnect).
MAJ has announced its nominations for this year’s edition, featuring a strong lineup of international artists.
Among the nominees, Domic appears in the category Best of Listeners’ Choice: International Song powered by Spotify. Music app Spotify is a partner for the event.
Following the success of the hit reality show Anh Trai Say Hi, Domic’s Disconnect quickly went viral.
The track not only topped domestic music charts but also repeatedly entered Spotify’s Global Viral 50 chart, attracting millions of streams from listeners in Japan, Thailand and across the region.
According to Vietnam Indie Music, a website for supporting indie artists, the MAJ judging panel is made up of more than 5,000 music industry professionals and reportedly praised Domic’s modern production approach and distinctive artistic performance style.
The nomination is also seen as an opportunity for the singer’s fandom to demonstrate its support by helping boost his international presence and secure a strong showing at one of Japan’s most prestigious music awards.
Voting for the listener's choice international category remains open until May 20 on Spotify.
The category also includes a number of globally renowned artists such as Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Jennie, Sabrina Carpenter, Mariah Carey and Doechii.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 13 in Tokyo, Japan.
In 2025, at its inaugural edition, Vietnamese singer Tùng Dương received the International Special Award, following a nomination from the Cống Hiến (Devotion) Awards organised by Vietnam News Agency's Thể Thao & Văn Hóa (Sport & Culture) daily.
Taro Kumabe, executive director for international relations at MAJ, emphasised that the awards were established to celebrate music across Asia, creating a platform where artists from diverse markets can stand alongside one another and gain global recognition. — OVN/VNS
